Tinder Verification Code Not Received? 8 Fixes That Actually Work

You type your number, tap continue, and wait. Nothing. Tinder's SMS step is one of the most common places new accounts get stuck. Work through these in order — they're sorted from most to least likely.

1. Check the country code

Tinder shows a country selector next to the number field. If it says +1 and your number is British, the SMS goes nowhere. Pick the country first, then type the number without its leading country code or trunk zero.

2. Wait before you resend

Tapping "Resend" five times in a minute is the fastest way to get a number throttled. Wait a full two minutes, then resend once. If nothing arrives after that, the problem is the number, not the timing.

3. Is it a VoIP number?

Google Voice, TextNow and many second-number apps issue VoIP numbers. Tinder commonly refuses these or simply never delivers the code. Retrying won't change the number's type. Why VoIP numbers get rejected.

4. The number was used before

6. Weak signal or airplane mode

Obvious, but common: switch Wi-Fi calling off and on, or restart the phone.

7. App or device issues

Update Tinder, then force-close and reopen it. Repeated failed sign-ups from one device can also trigger extra checks; give it some time before trying again.

8. Switch to a non-VoIP number
