Hinge treats your phone number as your account, so a code that won't work is a bigger deal than on other apps. Here's what each symptom means.
"Invalid code"
Almost always one of two things: you requested a second code and typed the first, or the code expired. Every resend invalidates the earlier code. Request once, wait, and type the newest code immediately.
No SMS at all
- Check the country selector matches your number.
- Wait two minutes before resending.
- VoIP numbers (Google Voice, TextNow, many second-line apps) are commonly refused.
- Recycled numbers may already belong to another Hinge account.
Locked out after changing phones
If you no longer have the number your account was created with, Hinge support is the only route back into that account. That's why, whatever number you verify with, you should set up any additional sign-in option Hinge offers you as soon as you're in.
Using a one-time number with Hinge
Pick Hinge and your country, enter the number in Hinge, and the code appears in your browser. If Hinge needs a second code during the same session, use "Request another SMS" — it works on the same number for no extra credit once the first code has arrived.
